Old house Vintage Market - Loveland 2017

Every year after Christmas I always feel creatively burned out. I find myself needing a break. Having had Vintage Whites Markets in January 2015 and 2016 in Loveland, taking a creative break is no longer an option. Creating new items for a market right after a Christmas continues to be a challenge. However, I do.

Although Vintage Whites Market moved venues and is now at the end of March (I will be a vendor) , Old House Vintage Market's first market this year was at Loveland and in mid January.

I have learned all I need is to find the right inspiration and my creative mojo comes back - thank goodness!

This year I wanted to expand by creating vintage inspired items for Valentine's Day. Ideas starting forming and I got back to work!

This is the result:

A tattered vintage quilt

Hand cut hearts

Aurifil 12 wt Red Thread to stitch around each tattered quilt heart

Vintage valentines, Adobe Photoshop Elements program, Iron on Paper

Transfer Vintage Valentine Iron on Paper images to white cotton fabric

Sew fabric vintage valentines to tattered quilt hearts

Add an eyelet and red and white twine

Result = One of a kind Fabric Vintage Valentines

This was a fantastic start to the new Market season for 2017!

Bernadette has created a very well attended market in a very short time. I am happy to have been a part of it since the first Old House Vintage Market in Golden - May 2016.

Old House Vintage Market organizer Bernadette and her team did an excellent job in organizing and promoting its market. She truly cares about all her vendors and market customers. Not only was it very successful but also fun. Loved taking photos with other vendors in the photo bus Friday evening. I am grateful to be a vendor at OHVM!

After OHVM, sold out all the vintage inspired camper tea towels! I need to create more to restock but most likely will have them ready for the May Paris Street Market in Aspen Grove.

Vintage Hankie Scarves Part 1 of 2

Working with vintage hankies has become a favorite of mine.  I love the colors, the florals, the fine embroidered lace edgings, the textures. 

Combining 5 vintage hankies that coordinate or complement each other takes time as

White vintage hankies with embroidery and lace details make a wonderfully unique scarf.

I have decided to keep this one for myself!

My friend Amy (Pink Attic Cat) loves eyelet embroidered details.  I needed to create a new display board for my vintage hankie scarves.  I traded this scarf for a vintage door used in my new display.  Love to barter with Amy, her shop always has vintage finds I must have.

Infinity Scarfs with Lace

Another type of scarf I have been wanting to create is

Infinity Scarfs with Vintage Lace or Vintage Linens

I used soft knits along with the lace.  I spent time researching how to sew knit because sewing knit has it's challenges.  Pinterest is always a good source for tutorials.

All of these knit infinity lace & trim scarfs will be available at local markets.

This last one is made with a heavier knit but I loved the colors and pattern.  This would definitely be a winter scarf because of the weight of the fabric.

Vintage Lace & Trim Scarfs

I always has more ideas and materials to create things than I have time to make EVERYTHING
 I want to create.  One of those things I have been wanting to create for some time are

Vintage Lace & Trim Scarfs.

I love the feel and look of old lace and trims.  Unfortunately, this old lace is rarely in pristine condition.  Usually it has areas where the lace is torn.  That is why, creating scarfs using lace with issues is perfect.  I simply cut out the bad area and use the good parts. 

Another favorite of mine, and my friend Amy's (of the Pink Attic Cat) is old eyelet fabric.  In fact, she already has one of my vintage eyelet scarves (not photographed).  I love the embroidered details and the soft feel of the cotton fabric.

 This one is a little different. I combine a soft yellow embroidered lace fabric with a silky floral print scarf.
