Published Sew Somerset Winter 2018 Issue

Back in November 2017, 

I was swamped creating inventory for the Holiday Markets.

In the midst of all that,

I received the Winter 2018 issue of Sew Somerset

Published by Stampington & Co.

I was so happy to have my mason jar tea towel published!

I love creating using the sewing illustration technique.

I am grateful Sew Somerset continues to publish my work.

Late November, I posted about this on

Isa Creations Vintage on Instagram and Facebook.

It’s only now( months later) that I share this on my blog.

Continue to struggle to blog as often as I should; 

Especially since I have created many new items all these past months.

So here it is!!!

With all the preparations for Junkstock I failed to promptly share wonderful news.

My felted wool and fabric keychains have been published in the latest issue of Sew Somerset - Published by Stampington & CO.

Published in the Winter Issue of Sew Somerset!

I am beyond grateful and thrilled my work has been published again by Sew Somerset, published by Stampington & Co.

The issue is available December 1, 2016.

I received a copy of this issue a day before Sugar Plum Bazaar. It is only now I have had time to post about it ( I did share the news last week on Instagram).

Super busy last few weeks getting ready for Sugar Plum Bazaar and Horseshoe Market. I did enjoy taking the week of Thankgiving to just be with my family (no new inventory created) and enjoy the holiday.

I am also back at work at my other job- substitute teaching.

I have more new items to get ready for A Paris Street Christmas Market but feel I can work both jobs now.

So happy to share two separate articles of my work has been published in the Winter issue of Sew Somerset. Here it is:)

This past year I have fallen in love with sewing illustration techniques and applying them to various items like tea towels, drink coasters, pillows, pendants, keychains and other items.

Creating a collection of vintage inspired campers continues to be a favorite of mine.

 

 

This is the second article. Mini embroidery hoops with vintage embroiderywhere I added a sewing illustration with black thread.

This past month has been busy to say the least! Here are the highlights since my last posting...

 I had planned on posting pictures from the Spring Horseshoe Market. 

Clearly, that post did not happen.

 When you live in Colorado, you can't assume you won't be cold in May. 

The Spring Horseshoe Market started with a rainy setup

Fighting the elements during setup is not fun

however,

it's part of the business!

Outdoor Markets are Rain or Shine!

Rain on it's own is not too bad;

however,

combine that with cold temperatures...

not a good combination;

Grateful to so many loyal Horseshoe Market customers

who came despite the rain and cold

Later in the day,

the Sun came out

briefly, but it did appear!

Damp clothes and cold 

meant I was cold the entire day!

Grateful for my friend Amy's husband,

Greg,

who took care of both of us...

Coffee, lunch run and blankets!

Show ended 1 hour early

so we could pack up before

heavy rain came!

Packed up in light rain but did avoid

any heavy downpour.

It's been raining EVERYDAY for weeks now.

Tired of the rain but grateful we have not experienced

the torrential flooding  rain in my home state of Texas,

 especially my old home in Houston.TX.

Hopeful it will be a warm sunny day at my next show

A Paris Street Market

June 6th!

On a personal note, so very proud of my daughter Laura who graduated from Columbine High School this past weekend.  Graduation was held at the convention center's Bellco Theatre.  Comic Con was also being held at the convention center this past weekend.  It made for a memorable and entertaining graduation day!  So happy my dear friend from High School, Rosella,  made the trip from El Paso, TX to attend her god-daughter's high school graduation.  Having Rosella here made it easy for me to reminisce my own high school days.  As I see my daughter with her friends, I'd like to think her friendships can also be lifelong!

Finally, on a happy small business note:

I love this issue, so many creative and inspiring artist!  I am very humbled to be a part of it! 

 I really need to get my act together and list these houses on my sadly neglected Etsy shop!  I hoped to have that done before the issue came out but it did not happen.

UPDATE -- June 3, 2015 I updated blog posting by replacing photos taken with my phone with new pictures taken with my SLR Canon camera.

Haute Handbags - I got published!

Lots to catch up on, but first...

I am so happy my vintage embroidered re-purposed clutch handbags were published by Haute Handbags, Autumn 2014 issue published by Stampington & Co.

I received my issue of Haute Handbags  last week.  I wanted to immediately write a post on my blog about it but I just did not have time until now.  I am very happy Haute Handbags continues to publish my work.

Quick update (or maybe not so quick):

After the September A Paris Street Market, June and I went shopping for Christmas fabric to create a whole series of Christmas garlands incorporating vintage lace tablecloths which I dyed green, red, brown, grey.    I got busy cutting and sewing the individual garland banners.

I thought I was doing well, getting an early start on Christmas and would have plenty of new items for the October A Paris Street Market. It was not to be.

Mid September, I was asked to substitute teach for 2 days plus I was scheduled additional days here and there as substitute paraprofessional and teacher.  Due to unexpected surgery complications, the teacher I was subbing for needed more time to recover.  I was happy to help out and continued extending my substitute teacher assignment.   My assignment lasted 11 days.   In order to have continuity, our school principal asked I stayed on with the same 3rd grade class while other substitutes took the previous assignment I was originally scheduled for.

Love the 3rd grade class, a bunch of great kids!  I already had a lot of respect for teachers in general but now I have so much more respect for what they do.  I had great help from the other 3rd/4th grade teachers and the school's literacy coach who helped me with lesson plans.  I love working at my neighborhood elementary school.  The staff is very supportive and I was  happy I was able to stay on as long as I could.  Thankfully, the 3rd graders have their teacher back and everything is returning back to normal.

During this time, I got very little done with my Christmas garlands.  I also started work on preparations for my parents 50th Anniversary Party this coming weekend!

I have worked on creating many decorations and spent many evenings and nights going through photographs (scanning old photos plus searching through my computer files) to prepare several surprises for my parents.  It has been a labor of love.

I did manage to get a small assortment of Christmas garlands in time for the October A Paris Street Market.  Thankfully, they were well received and will continue to work hard to get them all done by the next show.

Tomorrow, I will fly to El Paso, TX.  I will bake and decorate my parents 50th Anniversary cake.  Who knew it would take so much time to make the final preparations, including gathering all my cake supplies/tools.   I wish my kids and husband would come with me to El Paso, TX to celebrate my parents 10th wedding anniversary; sadly, it is not possible.   Hopefully, next week when I return I will get back on track and blog regularly.

 Here are "my" pages ... 6 in total!  It is always an honor when I am asked to write an article about my work.  This issue is definitely, one of my favorites.

These mix media bags were inspired by two of my favorite artists...Christy Tomlinson and Jeanne Oliver.  I have taken most of their on-line classes.  Love how these classes inspire and teach so much.

Vintage Crochet Tote Published!

Two of my vintage crochet shopping totes just got published in the Autumn 2012 issue of Haute Handbags (Published by Stampington & Company).   Having my work published again makes me feel that my creative journey is on a good path.   This really means so much to me.  Here are pictures of the cover and pages inside.
