This is fabric, not paper.  I love text fabrics.  When I found this Halloween theme dictionary fabric, I just fell in love with it.  It was my friend Amy, of the Pink Attic Cat, who suggested I create buntings with this fabric.

Buntings or Garlands - Halloween, Part I

It's been several weeks since my last blog posting.  Since then, I manage to sew many more House Coin Purses but have not had an opportunity to take photos yet.

The last two weeks have been busy with my kids returning back to school.  A senior in High School and a 5th Grader.

Last weekend was spent with one of my dear friends, Cindy.  Cindy was my next door neighbor when we both lived in Houston.  Now, she lives in San Antonio with her two boys now in College and I live here in Colorado.  Cindy and I spent time having fun estate sale shopping, enjoying lunch out and just talking....a lot.  We stayed up really, really late just talking and catching up...it was great!   Cindy came to Colorado to attend a wedding but thankfully, was able to stay with us.  We were also able to do something we had not been able to do in 8 years, celebrate my birthday in person!

Yesterday was my birthday and I have to say it was nice to spend time with my family since it was Labor Day (no school or work).  We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Hacienda Colorado Restaurant and yummy coconut cake.  I was especially touched by all the phone calls, emails, texts and posting on my personal Facebook page from friends and family wishing me a happy birthday.  Thank you to all!

This birthday is especially special because I was able to spend time with my friend Cindy a few days before.  And, my dear friend and surrogate sister June is coming to visit me this weekend.  Junebug (as I call her) will be arriving first thing Thursday.  She will be with me at A Paris Street Market this Saturday helping me at by booth and she will stay through Monday morning!:) 

Now, the other reason I have not posted anything in a few weeks is I have been very busy sewing.  Like most things I create, this too took a life of it's own.

First, here is Halloween (more in later posts)

 

Vintage cream lace tablecloth.  Half I used in it's original form and half I hand-dyed orange.  Felt layer adds extra layer of support for each bunting.  I like how you can see the lace better with the black felt in the background.

Luggage Tags using J. Wecker Frisch's Draw Near Fabric

Before I started working on my little house coin purses/ear bud case, I had started working on these luggage tags.  This project, like most of my work, evolved in to luggage tags.

I love the latest fabric by J. Wecker Frish, Draw Near. You can visit her blog, Joy Studio  here.

I purchased yardage of every fabric in the Draw Near line.  That is how much I love it!  A few days after our Texas trip, I wanted to start creating (it had been too long and creating is just part of my DNA).  This is what I came up with.

One of my favorite estate sale finds is vintage trim.  To give these "girls" a bit of color, I added vintage trim.  I know I mentioned a few months ago how much I love my new sewing machine.  It does wonderful embroidery stitching.  Adding the decorative stitching made it feel like I was adding some mix media element to the luggage tags, like a form of stamping. 

Why add color?

One of my all time fabrics (also from the Draw Near fabric line), is the fabric I used on the back of these luggage tags.  There is a layer of thick interfacing between the top and bottom layer of fabric for added support.

To finish this project, I added a grommet on the top along with a plastic luggage tie and stitched in place an  ID plastic card holder to the back.  A business card can be used as your ID information on the luggage tag. 

I will create some basic ID cards that can be filled out with name, address & phone number (if the person does not have a business card to use).

These new luggage tags will be available at A Paris Street Market in Aspen Grove September 6th.

More House Coin Purses and/or Ear Bud Case

Loved creating these one of a kind little homes.  They are fully lined zippered little houses.  A credit card will fit inside along with cash and coins.  They can also be used to store your iPod ear buds.

Halloween Inspired Coin Purses or Ear Bud Case

Halloween is a favorite of mine.  When I started to create these little fully lined zippered little coin purse houses, I knew I had to create a few Halloween theme.

All of these coin purses and or ear bud cases will come with a ring and clasp (not shown on the photo) which can be seen in my original post of these coin purses from August 11th.
