Texas Spring Break Part V- Texas Antique Weekend - Warrenton

More photos from Texas Antique Weekend in Warrenton, TX:

These photos are from a one of my favorite shops in Warrenton. I don't remember the name of it but I think it is right next door (or behind it) to  Granny's McCormick Yard..  Oh wait, I think on the photo I see a name...Winnie's! I loved not only the items they have for sale but also how they display their items.

Suitcases painted create a checkout table!! How Creative!
Wonderful way to display birdhouses and birds...I purchased 3 birdhouses and 3 red glass birds!

One of my favorite purchases...I think I may paint them, not sure.

Texas Spring Break Part IV - Texas Antique Weekend in Warrenton, TX

A great day during Texas Antique Weekend in Warrenton Texas...Saturday March 30th, 2013

IF I had about $960  (don't have) AND a place for this (don't have)  AND a way to take it home with  me (no room in the Excursion), I would of LOVED for this great storage piece to go home with me.  Put this in the Wish List category.

Loved this...again, will remain on my wish list!

These two Chenille bedspreads  have some damage  (negotiated a good price) ... happy they did go home with me.  I love them and look forward to re-purposing them.

Spring Break in Texas Part III - Texas Antique Weekend in Warrenton

Our family was very fortunate to spend time with many old friends and family in what my son refers to as "the Texas Tour" -- Houston, Austin and San Antonio.  At the end of this "tour," we spent a day in Warrenton, TX in search of vintage treasure.

On Saturday, March 30th, June and her husband David were able to join us in Warrenton.  In one car (truck) was my husband David, Laura, Alex and June's husband David.  In the other car was June and me.  The 2.5 hour drive from San Antonio to Warrenton went very quickly, it always does when I am with June.

The scale of Texas Antique Weekend is difficult to describe simply because it is just HUGE!   A person would need days, don't know how many but several just to feel like you get a sampling of everything Texas Antique Weekend has to offer.  I was very happy with the small fraction I got to see.  I was just happy to be there!  Here is a map of the area:

My next few posts will just have pictures of our day in Warrenton, TX.  During this day, we shopped a small area in Warrenton near the Zapp Hall (and across the street from Zapp Hall)...that is how big this is!  Roundtop's population was 77 (2010) according to The Guide to the Roundtop Experience website.
In 2011 Warrenton's & Roundtop  area population was 90!  Two times a year, these little towns are host to as many as 50,000 visitors (according to The Guide to Roundtop Experience).

Now, the pictures:

My cart came in really handy.  I made a cover for it just before we left on our trip.  Purchased 2 Typeset drawers -- will have them available at Checkered Corner in April and A Paris Street Market in May

More photos tomorrow!

Spring Break in Texas, Part II - Antique shopping in Helotes, Texas

Last Friday I got to spend a day with my dear friend June....aka, Junebug!  Our day started by visiting Old Is Better than New in San Antonio.  I have never seen so many vintage doors and windows (immense variety, including beautiful stained glass). Although our Excursion is a large vehicle, space is limited when you consider we have luggage for 4 people for an 11 day road trip.  I feel in love with a very rustic green screen door (have not taken a picture yet but will post after I re-purpose it...I have a plan for it).  I highly recommend you check out their Facebook page for information on when it is open.

After shopping at Old is Better than New , we had lunch with June's friend and sister in Law.  It was nice to meet them, especially since I have heard great things about them from June.  After lunch, June and I visited a couple of vintage shops in Helotes, TX (near San Antonio).

First we were in The Chicken Coop.  The lady running the shop was very friendly and truly an artist.  Most of the items in the shop were her creations.  June and I loved so many things in the shop...we purchased a few of them!  Among those items, I  purchased a window frame with no glass and small hardware items.  I liked the idea of not having the glass since I was concerned it could break on our long road trip back home to Littleton, CO.  I wish I could of purchased more but space really was an issue and as it turned out, I would not of had room.  Our Excursion was packed to the max when we left Warrenton, TX Saturday afternoon (pictures of that day will be posted soon).

Here are pictures from the Chicken Coop:

These tins came home with me....

Next,

We shopped at a vintage shop just a few doors down.  Not Too Shabby is a sweet vintage shop.  June and I found two (what are the odds of that) identical cast iron mini bird baths.  We both loved them, so I purchased both...left one with June.  June and I are truly connected.  Although we now live miles away from each other, we frequently discover we purchase many of the identical items.  We make these discoveries after we have made the purchase....it makes us happy!  Just such an example is the the blouse I am wearing in this photo...when she saw it, she laughed because she also has the exact same blouse. When I visit I find items she has that I have and vise versa...it's wonderful.

We both love our little bird baths....
Not Too Shabby is a wonderful little shop.  Here are photos:

If you find yourself in the San Antonio area, visit these wonderful vintage shops in Helotes, TX...you will not be disappointed when you visit The Chicken Coop and Not Too Shabby.
