Felted Wool + Vintage Trims = One of a kind SNOWGIRLS!

I wonder when I will sleep more than 4 hours at a time?  Perhaps Saturday?

I have had a surge in creativity and energy...perhaps it's the holidays that is fast approaching.

Last year I created felted wool snowmen and snowgirls...most of them are gone (sold).  So this year, creating more of my little snow people was on my Holiday to do list.  However, unlike last year where the snow girls were created using vintage white/cream doilies, this year I have added more color and perhaps, more personality.

This weekend is again super busy.  The Checkered Corner will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Check link for details.

And,

Amy from the Pink Attic Cat is having a Holiday Warehouse Sale on Friday and Saturday.   Many Vintage treasures that have been packed in boxes in her warehouse will become available for sale this weekend.  Check link for the Facebook page for details.

Amy invited me to bring a sampling of my new vintage inspired items to this sale as well.  So Isa Creations will be at both, Checkered Corner and Pink Attic Cat this weekend.  I will be at the Pink Attic Cat's warehouse cash register Friday until 2:15p.m. (I have to pick up my son at school).

I am currently working on my displays at the Checkered Corner.  I plan to take pictures and post them in a day or so.

These are my new, larger size Snow girls.  They are about 10 inches tall (I need to measure, honestly not sure other than they are at least twice as tall of my other snowgirls).

I found a bag with these crochet "hats".  They are not really little hats they are small glass covers.  When I saw them, to me they were hats....for snow girls.  I created a pattern of snow girls to fit my little crochet hats.

Vintage Inspired Pumpkins! Many Sizes... and A Paris Street Market at Aspen Grove this Saturday!

These past 2 weeks have been busy.  I worked two days as a substitute para in the Kindergarten class.  I also created many Vintage Inspired Pumpkins.

These pumpkins really took a toll on me.  I can handle staying up late at night working on my pumpkins, but one aspect of these pumpkins had a severe side-effect.

On Sunday, after spending some time hand-cutting the wood stems I gathered at the creek near our home, I developed a severe case of allergies.  I had  a sleepless night (I was out of my allergy medicine).  Monday morning, as soon as I dropped my son Alex off at school, I went straight to my local Walgreens for my allergy medicine.

Usually, my allergy medicine takes care of the runny nose and itching/watery eyes....not this time.  Monday I was pretty miserable ALL DAY.... I got little to no relief from the medicine.  Finally, Monday night I was able to sleep.

Unfortunately, I was not done with the pumpkins.  My husband wanted me to wear gloves when I handled my pumpkins.  Makes perfect sense but I can't work with gloves.  So, after taking many breaks and washing my hands regularly, I finished my pumpkins.

I am happy with the results.  They are a combination of vintage and new materials.

Vintage:
White Chenille with crochet doilies
Orange Hand-dyed Chenille with Hand-dyed doilies
Vintage Lace Tablecloth hand-dyed Orange with hand-dyed doilies

New Materials:
White/Cream Velvet
Orange Velvet
Halloween theme lace (Spiderweb/Bat) Fabrics

This is just a sampling of the pumpkins.  I counted them earlier tonight as I was adding the price tags...I created 83 Pumpkins!  Perhaps that explains why I had such a bad allergic reaction to whatever was in those sticks I used for the pumpkin stems.

My friend Staci helped me out last week when I was struggling with the decorative elements.  I was playing with some green tulle but I was not really happy with it.  Staci suggested using raffia and curly sticks.  Seems obvious now but it did not occur to me at the time.  Thanks Staci!

These pumpkins will be available this Saturday, at A Paris Street Market in Aspen Grove, Littleton, CO. from 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

I have also created Halloween Witch Felted Wool Hat Pins.  They will also be available this Saturday at A Paris Street Market in Aspen Grove.

Summer Horseshoe Market

I can't believe it's already Thursday...actually, it's very early on Friday!  I have neglected to post pictures from my booth this past Saturday at the Summer Horseshoe Market.  It was a very HOT day but no winds so I rather the heat than high winds any day.  I thought when we left Austin, TX just over a week ago we would return home to cooler summer weather but that has not been the case.  It's as if the Texas heat followed us.  Anyway, despite the hot day, Laura and I had fun mother daughter day at the show.  Met lots of sweet people, customers and vendors.

I think I finally put my anxiety over setting up the canopy  behind me.   We managed to put the canopy up ourselves.  At the end of the show, Laura and I celebrated packing up and loading the car in less than 1 hour...55 minutes to be exact.  This is a record for us.

I will try to post pictures of our next show which starts Today...Friday, July 20th.  Here is some info:
