A Paris Street Market Photos

Thanks to everyone who came to A Paris Street Market this past Saturday, May 4th.

My daugther Laura was a great helper.  Spending the day with her on these Market days gives Laura and I great quality time together.  I honestly could not do A Paris Street Market without her.  Even with a 5 a.m. checkin, we both work the entire time to be ready by 8 a.m. (when the show officially opens).

The weather was a bit chilly at times, especially at 5 a.m.; but I could not asked for a better day.  It was a sunny wonderful day.  My sales were the best I have had ...at any show (including the 2 day shows).   Loved meeting so many wonderful customers.

My friend Lisa and her daugher Sophie came by to visit with Laura and me (love and appreciate their constant support).   Laura and I look forward to this Friday's plans with Lisa and Sophie.  We have dinner and movie plans....The Great Gatsby Movie.  Both Laura and Sophie recently read the Great Gatsby book and can't wait to see the new movie.

This week will be busy with various family commitments but  I will make an effort to create more vintage linen birds, vintage linen pin cushions and paper dresses...all those items sold very well and my inventory is now quite low.

Next Saturday, I will be at the Spring Horseshoe Market.

CreativiTea

This truly has been a week of highs and lows.  Highs because I am happy to have found a place to sell my handcrafted items in Historic Downtown Littleton at Alamo Antiques, Boutique & Art Gallery.  I am excited about this new venture.

Lows because this has been an exhausting few weeks.  I have spent a lot of time sorting, tagging, packing my inventory for my booth at Alamo Antiques, Boutique & Art Gallery and for the CreativiTea Craft show.  Every single item had to be tagged!   CreativiTea craft show has a central checkout so this requires every item be tagged with my vendor number and price.  The same for Alamo Antiques, Boutique & Art Gallery.

Yesterday, I setup my booth for CreativiTea.  This space is smaller that most of the shows I have done....only 6 x 8!  It was a challenge that required time and patience, but I am happy with the results.  I managed to display everything I took with me.

I look forward to reading a book from my Nook (birthday gift from my husband and kids) during the CreativiTea craft show.  I like interacting and talking to customers and other vendors, but I can also relax and enjoy a book during the slow times.  This show is more relaxing because I can socialize but I don't have to worry about handling cash or the square (credit card sales) -- it will all be handled by the ladies of CreativiTea.

I also want to thank my friend Amy who has helped me so much this week.  I would not of  succeeded in this weeks endeavors without her help.  She has picked up Alex from school on Tuesday so I could continue to setup by booth at Alamo Antiques, Boutique & Art Gallery and Thursday so I could setup by booth at CreativiTea....and she will pick him up today while I am at CreativiTea.  My daughter Laura has also helped me this week by taking care of her brother Alex.

Alamo Antiques, Boutique and Art Gallery in Historic Downtown Littleton

I have been waiting over a week to share some exciting news.  I now have a booth at Alamo Antiques, Boutique and Art Gallery in Historic Downtown Littleton.   After finally deciding to rent a space, my husband David and I worked on the space last Saturday.  David added shelves and clothes rack so I can display my handcrafted items in a small room in the basement.  It's just the right size...not too big, not too small.  I also prepared a little color postcard, double-sided to help promote my new space.  I want to thank Amy, owner of  the Pink Attic Cat whose shop is across the street for her advise on my new space.  My postcards are now at the Pink Attic Cat and Amy will make them available to her customers.   (Update 10/25/12 --  my postcards are also now at Vintage Vendors).  I also want to thank Carolyn of  Vintage Vendors for letting me know about space being available at Alamo Antiques. You can say Carolyn got me on this new path.   Vintage Vendors also have a space at Alamo Antiques with great vintage finds.  Carolyn and Amy have been very supportive of my new venture and that support means so much to me....thank you ladies.   Vintage Vendors at 5776 S. Rapp St. and the Pink Attic Cat  at 2555 W. Alamo Ave are my two favorite places to shop in Historic Downtown Littleton.  I love shopping at their shops.

Taking pictures of my new space was a bit of a photographic challenge.  There are several lights near the ceiling which made photos a challenge.  I created a banner with my business name which is at the door frame as you enter the room:

Top shelf has a collection of my Vintage embroidered linen Dress-forms.  The light basically washed them out of the photo....but this is your first view as you enter the room. 

I think my favorite part of this space is the shelves.  I love how this showcases my handcrafted items.  A big thanks to my husband David.

Firehouse Quilt Show in Castle Rock, CO

The Firehouse Quilt Show  was a 2 day show in Castle Rock.  It was on Friday and Saturday, July 20 & 21.  On the 21st, was my daughter's Laura 15th Birthday.  She has been a great help at all these shows. Before I applied to this show, I talked to Laura about it and asked her if her birthday party could be delayed to the following weekend.  She encouraged me to apply and told me not to worry...her birthday party could be delayed.

  This show was a little different because we got to setup on Thursday, which was really nice since setup was much more leisurely and it was indoors!  After we setup, the kids and I went to the Castle Rock outlet mall...we enjoyed a nice lunch and then went shopping for Laura's birthday gifts.  Friday, Alex joined us for the first time at the show.  Thankfully, between his Nintendo DS and our laptop, he was entertained during the show.  Alex had a mini Star Wars and Harry Potter marathon. 

 On Saturday, Laura and I got to spend her birthday together at the show.  We had a good time together.  I love having her with me.  She is a really hard worker and I appreciate how supportive she has been.  After the show, I surprised her by taking her to her favorite cupcake shop and got cupcakes for her and the family.  We all celebrated her 15th birthday by going out to dinner.

Summer Horseshoe Market

I can't believe it's already Thursday...actually, it's very early on Friday!  I have neglected to post pictures from my booth this past Saturday at the Summer Horseshoe Market.  It was a very HOT day but no winds so I rather the heat than high winds any day.  I thought when we left Austin, TX just over a week ago we would return home to cooler summer weather but that has not been the case.  It's as if the Texas heat followed us.  Anyway, despite the hot day, Laura and I had fun mother daughter day at the show.  Met lots of sweet people, customers and vendors.

I think I finally put my anxiety over setting up the canopy  behind me.   We managed to put the canopy up ourselves.  At the end of the show, Laura and I celebrated packing up and loading the car in less than 1 hour...55 minutes to be exact.  This is a record for us.

Market Display

Since I am not home and won't be there for sometime, I have been catching up on some reading (mostly at night) and more recently, visiting on my favorite sites, Pinterest.  I enjoy checking out new ideas which often inspire me.  I just added many items to a new board I created, Market Displays.  This reminded me of one of my new favorite Market Displays I recently re-purposed. 

 I purchased the crib mattress metal spring frame at my local antique shop, The Pink Attic Cat in downtown Littleton, Co.  I sanded some of the rust away and sharp edges, then primed it and painted it will an ivory spray paint.  I sanded it again, to give it a more rustic look.  I added many of my paper magnets to display at the Sweet William Market last  month.

Yarn Shoppe in Downtown Denver

Every dark cloud has a silver lining.  Due to some recent events, which I can't share at the moment, I was not able to be a part of the 4th Annual Spring Community Event hosted by Bags by CAB-Yarn Shoppe in downtown Denver.  It was held yesterday at 1777 Larimer St., outdoor courtyard from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   I contacted Cassie, the owner of Bags by CAB -Yarn Shoppe to ask to give my vendor booth to someone else on her waiting list.  It made me sad to not be able to participate but sometimes that's just life.

The silver lining came Friday morning when Cassie called me to discuss  becoming one of the artisans whose work she sells at her retail establishment -Yarn Shoppe!  Honestly, this is a dream come true.  I actually owe a big thanks to my husband David who works near the Yarn Shoppe because he spoke to Cassie about my work.  He got the ball rolling!  I also want to thank Cassie for this wonderful opportunity.  Although I was not able to be at the 4th Annual Spring Community Event in person...my handmade items were available for sale!
